KLIA Express, Transit trains come to a halt after cable theft incidents

KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Cable thieves have caused a series of disruptions to the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit train services yesterday and early this morning, said the company that manages both operations, Express Rail Link, in a statement today.

Acts of vandalism by the thieves have caused the signalling system at Bandar Tasik Selayang to come to a stop.

The first cable cut incident took place at KM48.5 between Salak Tinggi Station and KLIA T1 at around 6.20 am yesterday. This had caused the morning rush-hour crowd to experience delays.

The second cable cut happened at KM43.1 at 5.52 pm yesterday between the Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Salak Tinggi stations.

Another similar incident at Bandar Tasik Selatan Station happened later yesterday at 9.57 pm, resulting in all train services on that line to be suspended.

The thieves were active again today at 4.47 am and 5.20 am, cutting cables and causing further disruptions to train services between Salak Tinggi Station, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and KL Sentral.

Express Rail Link has assured all train users they are working hard to restore all services, and has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

Passengers who have been affected by the disruptions may request for a refund at CustomerEnquiry@KLIAekspres.com.
