Seremban local council told to check claims of housing project near gas pipeline

SEREMBAN, April 7 — The Seremban City Council (MBS) has been instructed to look into a viral video circulating on social media, which shows a new housing project allegedly being built near a gas pipeline in Sendayan near here.

Negeri Sembilan executive councillor for local government development, housing and transport J. Arul Kumar said his office received the order yesterday afternoon after a 28-second video of the alleged project went viral on Facebook and TikTok.

Arul also requested that MBS check whether the construction encroached on road reserve land.

“We are aware of the matter and I have informed the Seremban City Council and the developer to review the project site. There’s Gas Malaysia pipeline signage at the location, indicating it is a connection pipe to the industrial area.

“I have asked MBS and the developer to check whether any construction work has encroached onto reserve land. If not, then there is no issue as the work remains within the private land owned by the developer,” he said.

Yesterday, a video went viral on social media showing the construction of a new housing project in Sendayan allegedly being carried out near a gas pipeline, raising concerns among residents.
