SHAH ALAM, March 22 — Some 50 asnaf (tithe recipients) children from the Kota Anggerik state constituency were taken shopping for Hari Raya Aidilfitri clothing at the Jakel clothing centre today.

Its state assemblyman Mohd Najwan Halimi said RM5,000 was spent to bring joy to children aged between seven and 12 as they prepare to celebrate Aidilfitri.

“This programme is organised almost every year as a way to share our blessings with the less fortunate in the Kota Anggerik constituency.

“We hope that this contribution will, to some extent, ease the burden on the recipients’ families,” he said after the Ehsan Aidilfitri programme at Section 7 today.

Commenting on the distribution of Jom Shopping Aidilfitri vouchers this year, Najwan said that 900 individuals will benefit from the RM200 shopping initiative.

“The distribution will take place this evening at the Giant Hypermarket in Section 13. This annual initiative aims to ease the burden on recipients as they prepare for Aidilfitri,” he said.

In conjunction with the upcoming festive period, 36,350 vouchers worth RM200 each, utilising over RM7.2 million in allocations, will be distributed to low-income families in Selangor.

This amount is part of the RM12 million allocated to assist underprivileged families in celebrating major festivals, including Chinese New Year and Deepavali.
