SEPANG, March 21 — More than 1,000 entrepreneurs have benefited from a special RM3,000 financing scheme through the Selangor Platform Scheme (U-PLATS) since it was first introduced by Yayasan Hijrah Selangor last year.
State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said that U-PLATS serves as an additional capital injection for small-scale traders looking to start a business.
“Borrowers are provided with an interest-free loan of as low as RM3,000, specifically for entrepreneurs running businesses including food stalls, burger stands, and kuih vendors.
“Apart from U-PLATS, Hijrah Selangor also offers the i-Business Scheme financing for micro-entrepreneurs and the Niaga Darul Ehsan Scheme (NaDI) for women to expand their businesses with capital of up to RM50,000,” he said.
Speaking to the press after distributing Selangor Platform digital coupons at the Taman Putra Perdana Ramadan bazaar yesterday, Najwan expressed satisfaction with the repayment performance among Hijrah Selangor borrowers.
“During the Covid-19 era, Hijrah Selangor struggled with loan repayment issues due to the impact on businesses.
“However, under its new management, debt collection has improved through a diplomatic approach that avoids pressure and instead implements loan restructuring for borrowers,” he said.
Najwan added that Hijrah Selangor has also established 12 Business Centres across the state’s local authority districts.
“The Business Centres reflect Hijrah Selangor’s commitment to providing comprehensive support, including financing access and business guidance for entrepreneurs,” he said.
