SHAH ALAM, March 21 — KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM) remains on standby to ensure uninterrupted garbage collection services across Selangor throughout Aidilfitri.

Its Corporate Services senior general manager Ahmad Rizal Mohd Daud said around 10,000 workers and over 1,000 assets are deployed as usual to maintain efficient solid waste management and ensure cleanliness in the area.

“Aidilfitri waste collection will continue as usual, operating 24/7 to ensure uninterrupted services despite the festive rush.

“We anticipate a significant increase in waste, especially from open houses and similar gatherings.

“So, we have ensured that the landfill is prepared to handle the increased waste, as we expect a yearly rise, especially during the festive season.

“We have sufficient workers and assets to manage waste disposal efficiently during this period,” he said after the Bubur Lambuk Cinta Ramadan programme yesterday.

Ahmad Rizal stated that bulk waste collection services are available in selected local authority areas to assist residents in disposing of old furniture and household items ahead of the festive season.

He also urged Selangor residents to practice responsible waste management and adhere to the designated garbage collection schedule to prevent illegal dumping and disturbances from wild animals.

“During this festive season, let’s be mindful — celebrate and entertain guests in moderation, dispose of waste properly, and, if possible, practice better waste segregation.

“Please follow the garbage collection schedule to prevent illegal dumping and avoid attracting wild animals. Hopefully, we can enjoy Raya while keeping our surroundings clean,” he said.

Previously, KDEBWM managing director Datuk Ramli Mohd Tahir stated that 524 ‘roll-on roll-off’ (roro) bins had been allocated for bulk waste collection during Aidilfitri this year, with the possibility of increasing the number based on demand.

Earlier, around 80 staff from the Selangor Inland Revenue Board (IRB) Shah Alam branch, KDEBWM, and Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd (KPS) collaborated to prepare bubur lambuk for the programme, starting at 9am.

A total of 2,500 packs of bubur lambuk were distributed to the local community in Section 14, with KDEBWM contributing RM4,000 to support the initiative.
