SEPANG, March 18 — The RM9.03 million Sungai Parit Tampoi flood mitigation project in Dengkil here is underway, overseen by the Sepang Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS).
Sepang District Officer Khairi Azali Ibrahim said the Sepang JPS is also stabilising and strengthening riverbanks, improving drainage, and implementing other efforts to counter the high-tide phenomenon.
“This medium- and short-term project can prevent issues in flood-prone areas,” he said at Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s Ihya Ramadan event at Sentosa Mosque here last night.
Meanwhile, he said the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) — a component of the Integrated Development Region In South Selangor, or IDRISS — has an important role as the main maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hub in the region.
“KLIA is set to provide MRO facilities that support the private and commercial aviation industry.
“Among the latest developments is the announcement from Asia Digital Engineering, previously under AirAsia Group Bhd, to build an integrated MRO complex in KLIA.
“This project spans 380,000sqft in the KLIA Aeronautical Support Zone 1. This facility will boost KLIA’s capacity to maintain narrow- and wide-body aircraft in the region,” he said.
During the event, Sultan Sharafuddin launched the Sentosa Mosque, which was built in 2022 and accommodates up to 2,300 congregants.
The Ruler also presented Aidilfitri aid worth RM311,000 to 622 members of Sepang’s asnaf community.
