JAKARTA, March 7 — The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) secretary-general Tô Lâm will embark on his first state visit to Indonesia from March 9 to March 11, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
During his visit, he will meet President Prabowo Subianto to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and elevate relations between the two countries, said Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry.
Lâm will also discuss the issue with senior Indonesian officials, including the Speakers of the People’s Consultative Assembly, the People’s Representative Council, and the Regional Representative Council, and participate in business meetings with entrepreneurs from both countries.
In Vietnam’s political system, the position of CPV secretary-general holds the highest authority, alongside the President, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Senate, forming the core leadership of the state.
In a statement, the ministry highlighted that Indonesia and Vietnam’s relationship has flourished over the past seven decades, strengthened by the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2013.
Both Indonesia and Vietnam share a common vision of becoming high-income nations by 2045 — the year they will mark the 100th anniversary of their independence.
