SHAH ALAM, March 4 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj received over RM13 million in zakat payments from six state government subsidiaries yesterday.
They include Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI which contributed RM1.9 million, followed by Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (RM3.410 million), and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad (RM1.283 million).
Others include the Selangor State Development Corporation (RM2.655 million), Worldwide Holdings Group Berhad (RM2.9 million), and Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (RM1.034 million).
His Royal Highness received the contributions while attending the iftar ceremony with the public at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah.
The Ruler was accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah.
During the event, Sultan Sharafuddin also accepted the handover of Wakaf Selangor Muamalat's mobile dental clinic contribution.
His Royal Highness further received nearly RM352,000 in funds from Tabung Infak Jariah Umat Islam Selangor, dedicated to educational development. The contribution was presented by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department's director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad.
At the ceremony, which was also attended by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the Sultan presented RM217,000 in festive aid to 434 underprivileged individuals from the Petaling district.
The Ruler later broke fast and performed the Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers with the people.
