SHAH ALAM, Mar 1 — The Selangor government wants the Selangor Hospital Visitors’ Board (SHVB) to sustain a good relationship between medical institutions and the people.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the significant responsibility must be fulfilled to ensure the people comprehensively understand the health ecosystem.
He was delivering a speech after presenting appointment letters to SHVB members at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Building here yesterday.
“The SHVB must … create harmony between hospitals, clinics, and the community. If it can’t, no matter how advanced a hospital is, it will be challenged.
“You are the midpoint between volunteers, hospital staff and patients. You are also the … catalysts of the people’s understanding,” he told SHVB members in his speech.

The ceremony was also attended by state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin and Selangor State Health Department director Dr Ummi Kalthom Shamsudin.
Jamaliah said 260 people have been appointed to the SHVB over three years, involving all hospitals in Selangor.
She said the appointments were done through political quotas and recommendations by hospitals, and that members must be experienced in serving the community.
“We are looking for local leaders who have served in their communities, while hospitals choose members who have medical knowledge,” she added.
