SHAH ALAM, Feb 20 — Lembah Jaya State assemblyman Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad has proposed the expansion of the demand-responsive transit (DRT) service within the state constituency.

He said this aligns with the opening of a one-kilometre bus lane along Jalan Ampang-Bandar Baru Ampang.

“Reports indicate that the use of this bus lane has been effective, with a 42 per cent increase since its introduction.

“I propose that the DRT system be expanded in line with the introduction of the bus lane in the Lembah Jaya constituency to enhance the efficiency of the public transport system in this area,” he said.

Syed Ahmad was speaking during the debate session on the royal address by the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly session today.

During the tabling of the 2025 Selangor Budget on November 15 last year, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari announced a RM20 million allocation to optimise the Smart Selangor Bus and DRT van services.

He said this initiative includes adding new zones and implementing a broader concept in collaboration with service operators.

The DRT service was launched on October 20, 2023, during the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit that year.
