KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 — Improvement programmes by the Education Ministry (MOE) were among the topics touched upon by MPs during the debate on thanks on the Royal Address at the Dewan Rakyat today.
Sri Gading MP Aminolhuda Hassan suggested that the MOE review the implementation of the Student Integration Plan For Unity (RIMUP) at primary and secondary schools.
“Under the Malaysia Education Development Plan 2023 report on the context of accepting differences, only two components, working together and trust have achieved a close level, while openness and tolerance are still at moderate levels.
"So I see the need to boost unity efforts at school level,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sungai Besar MP Datuk Muslimin Yahaya said the MOE needs to immediately strengthen the Technical and Vocational Education and Training programmes to help students with less excellent academic results by increasing the total of Higher Secondary Vocational and Higher Secondary Industry Apprentice programmes at schools nationwide.
Similarly, Betong MP Datuk Richard Rapu recommended that the MOE increase allocations to manage student participation in Malaysian School Sports Council championships, as the allocations for all sports and game activities at the division, district, and state levels are inadequate, although student potential in various sports should be prioritised.
He also suggested that the MOE channel special allocation to schools to cover primary and secondary school student participation in co-curricular activities.
