SHAH ALAM, Feb 1 — Nearly 22,000 people benefited from a mega Jualan Ehsan Rahmah (JER) in conjunction with Chinese New Year, with cooking items on sale at discounts up to 40 per cent.
Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) group chief executive officer Datuk Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the January 27-28 sale was held in 14 locations statewide.
He said the mega sale held at Ehsan Mart in Pandamaran logged a sales value of around RM350,000.
“Mega JER is an event anticipated by the people, especially during festivals, as it alleviates their burdens in preparing for festivities.
“Reception has been encouraging, and we have received positive feedback on this event from visitors,” he told Media Selangor.
Khairil said the mega sale for Aidilfitri will be held on March 26 and 27 at several locations in Selangor.
“For JER Aidilfitri, additional items will be available for sale including rice cakes, peanuts, boxed coconut milk, onions, dried chillies, and potatoes to help buyers prepare for the festival,” he said.
The 2025 Selangor State Budget includes RM30 million for this year’s JERs, in line with the state’s aim to alleviate low-income groups’ burden amid rising living costs.
JER is set to be held in over 1,700 locations, including six mega sales during major festivals this year, up from two previously.
Earlier, PKPS received the Quality Management Award for its excellent performance, including in the management of JER. The agency has also been accredited by the Malaysia Book of Records for holding the largest subsidised items sale.
JER locations are announced on PKPS’ Facebook page.
