SHAH ALAM, Jan 28 — Asean Selangor Care Economy Summit will be introduced in conjunction with the Selangor International Business Summit, which will be held from October 8 to 11.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said the four-day inaugural event will centre the state’s care economy policy that is projected to be a future economic resource.
She said various programmes are scheduled during the summit, including a forum featuring local and foreign experts, to discuss care economy issues and share their experience.
“We will hold exhibitions and centre university research results on these issues. We will also showcase special care equipment and care centres that offer various care services.
“This will (inspire) industry players and draw investors. This engagement will also become a business-matching platform, thus fulfilling market needs,” she said on Media Selangor’s Bicara Semasa programme.
In November, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari launched the Selangor Care Economy Policy as preparation for an ageing state.
He said the policy focuses on five cores — advocacy and promotion; governance and supervision; trained carers and workers; investment and cooperation; and innovation, technology and data.
The policy, which is effective until 2030, covers elderly, child and disabled folk care, as well as better support for formal and informal carers.
