KLANG, Jan 18 — Over half a million domestic and international tourists are expected to visit Klang in conjunction with the Visit Selangor Year (VSY) 2025 tourism campaign.

Its Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said this target is based on records from previous years, which show a consistent increase over time.

"Based on 2023 data, 400,000 visitors were recorded, and we are confident that with the promotion of VSY 2025 , the number will rise to over half a million.

"Initiatives taken include organising tours to heritage sites and social media promotions. Simultaneously, we hope travel agencies can offer attractive packages for tourists.

"All these initiatives will help boost the number of tourists to Klang, thereby enhancing the local traders' economy," he said after officiating the Discover Royal Klang Town Heritage programme at Laman Seni Safari today.

Earlier, Hamid led participants to explore several heritage locations in Klang, including the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, Istana Alam Shah, Masjid India Tengku Kelana, and the Kota Raja Fire Station.

He also reminded business owners, particularly those in the food and beverage industry, to prioritise cleanliness in preparing their offerings.

"Cleanliness is one of the key factors in attracting tourists. Therefore, restaurant owners, in particular, must ensure it when preparing their foods and beverages.

"However, maintaining cleanliness is also the responsibility of tourists. We urge them not to litter or engage in vandalism which can ruin the scenery," Hamid said.
