SHAH ALAM, Jan 17 — Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor (PWS) is in plans to build an international-standard tahfiz school on a piece of land provided by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).
Its chief executive officer, Anuar Hamzah Tovar, said construction for the school — to be named Maahad Integrasi Tahfiz Sains Selangor — will begin in 2026 on the four hectare-size land in Seksyen 7, here.
This project, said Anuar Hamzah, is the aspiration of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, who wants its students to be well-versed not just in Arabic, but also in other languages, while learning the Quran.
“The school’s top-performing students can then be sent to further their studies at institutions of higher learning in Europe, such as Oxford or Cambridge University, and become future leaders of the country with sound knowledge of the Quran,” he said.
Anuar Hamzah was speaking after PWS chairman Dato’ Ibrahim Md Yusof presented a keynote address at an event in Hotel Concorde, here, last night.
He added that PWS is still in the process of finding an operator to run the school, which would cost around RM45 million to build.
“God-willing, if we do not face any obstacles, we will begin construction works next year,” he added.
