SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — Approximately 3,000 Selangor-born college and university students will receive sim cards with free Internet data to support their learning activities.
Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the distribution, scheduled after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations (at the end of April), will not be limited to students within the state but will also include those studying at all higher education institutions nationwide.
“This initiative is specifically for Selangor-born students pursuing their education. The SIM cards, complete with Internet data, will facilitate learning and are provided free of charge for one year.

“This effort also addresses the issue of Wi-Fi connectivity on campuses. We hope this state initiative will greatly benefit the recipients,” he told SelangorKini.
In 2021, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari announced that 70,000 state residents will receive SIM cards with free Internet data for 12 months.
In addition to students under the Selangor People's Tuition Programme, the initiative also targets Yayasan Selangor loan recipients, students of the Selangor Islamic University College, and Universiti Selangor.
MBI has also provided laptops equipped with SIM cards to students from low-income families.
Furthermore, 16,800 students from low-income families are targeted to receive school assistance contributions from MBI this year.ter
