SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — The Selangor Platform (PLATS) will be offered to college and university students who already possess businesses of their own, in order to promote their respective products as well as boost their economic standing.

Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) or MBI Foundation chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the PLATS Siswa initiative will commence at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), with a target of 100 entrepreneurs among Selangor-born students.

"This is a pilot project before we expand it to other higher education institutions. UiTM also has an entrepreneurship centre where their students have already been involved in campus businesses.

"Through PLATS Siswa, apart from promoting their products, students will also receive guidance, including digital courses, account management, and halal certification applications," he told SelangorKini.

Azri added that students participating in the programme will enjoy the same benefits as other PLATS participants.

First introduced in Ramadan 2020, PLATS aims to complement Selangor's Digitalisation Agenda ecosystem. A year later, PLATS 2.0 was launched to help traders generate income consistently.

The third version of the virtual platform, PLATS 3.0, continued in April 2022 through collaborations with Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad and Rakan Digital Selangor.

As of October last year, 40,000 traders across various product categories had joined the platform, and the state government aims for 50,000 traders to participate by 2026.
