KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 — The number of flood victims at relief centres (PPS) in Johor dropped to 3,118 people this afternoon, from 3,776 people this morning, while in Sarawak, the number increased to 40 people.
Johor
State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) chairman Tan Sri Azmi Rohani said the 3,118 flood victims are at 35 PPS in four districts, namely Kota Tinggi (1,251 people), Johor Bahru (708), Pontian (625) and Kluang (534).
Azmi in a statement today said the flood situation in the Kulai district has improved with all the victims allowed to return home as the flood water in their residential areas has receded completely.
Sarawak
Forty people are at two PPS in the state, from 18 people this morning.
According to the JPBN secretariat, 20 of the victims are at the PPS at Dewan Kompleks Sukan Kanowit. The evacuees are from Rumah Leo and Rumah Alice Jimmy.
The remaining 20 evacuees are at the PPS at Dewan Serbaguna Nanga Ngungun, also in the Kanowit district.
“The order to open the second PPS (Dewan Kompleks Sukan Kanowit) was issued by Kanowit Officer Jackline August at 11.30am,” said the JPBN secretariat in a statement.
Perak
The JPBN secretariat said 31 people from nine families are still at the PPS at SAR Padang Serai as at 4pm today.
They are from Kampung Padang Serai, Kampung Kasi and Kampung Pengkalan Damar in Manjung.
Pahang
A PPS was opened at Balai Raya Kampung Jawa in Rompin to accommodate 152 victims from Kampung Pantai 3 and 4 and Kampung Jawa, who were evacuated after their villages were hit by floods caused by high tide and strong winds.
