SHAH ALAM, Jan 9 — Deputy State Secretary Dato’ Mohd Yazid Sairi has been appointed as the Malaysia Games (Sukma) Secretariat's chief executive officer, which will take place in the state in 2026.
State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said Yazid possesses extensive public administration experience and was the Selangor contingent's deputy chief during Sukma in Sarawak last year.
He also announced that former Astro Arena Channel manager Venu Ramadass, who has experience as a broadcasting and production consultant for the SEA Games in Cambodia 2023, has been appointed as Sukma's chief operating officer.
"This appointment is part of the preliminary process to ensure Sukma Selangor 2026 are organised smoothly and successfully.
"Following this appointment, the Secretariat will coordinate specific matters involving state government departments and agencies, including the local authorities, district offices, and subsidiaries, in preparation for Sukma 2026," he said in a statement today.
Selangor is set to host Sukma after last hosting the prestigious games in 1998.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari has said the administration estimates a budget of over RM150 million will be allocated for the biennial sports event, in addition to utilising 90 per cent of Selangor's infrastructure.
