SHAH ALAM, Jan 6 — The Selangor State Education Department (JPNS) is managing the teaching and learning of 124 children rescued from GISB Holdings (GISBH) who are still at a safehouse set up by authorities.
State executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari said parents who have claimed their children from the safehouse have been advised to allow their kids to join mainstream learning, with JPNS’ monitoring.
“After the interim protection order on November 20, the Social Welfare Department (JKM) returned most of the rescued children aged under five and disabled kids to their parents.
“The remaining children under JKM’s care in Selangor number 124,” she told Media Selangor.
On January 2, the Education Ministry was reportedly realigning GISBH kids’ learning needs to mainstream education.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said this was necessary as there are still children at the JKM safehouse.
On September 10, police raided 20 GISBH premises in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan on suspicion of the group being involved in human trafficking, among others.
In the operation, 402 children aged one to 17 were rescued, believed to have been victims of exploitation and abandonment.
