KUALA SELANGOR, Jan 1 — More than 400 individuals started the New Year with a healthy lifestyle by participating in the 5km 2025 New Year’s Eve Unity Overpass Night Run event in Ijok yesterday night.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the run, organised by the Kuala Selangor Parliamentary Office in collaboration with various parties including Universiti Selangor and the Kuala Selangor Municipal Council, aims to strengthen racial unity.

“The main objective of organising this programme is to foster and enhance unity, as it is crucial for us to maintain harmony and a spirit of neighbourliness.

“We are beginning 2025 by promoting a healthy lifestyle so that we can collectively prioritise our health. This initiative can also help prevent illnesses while aligning with the national agenda,” he told the press.

Earlier, Dr Dzulkefly, who is also the Kuala Selangor MP, officiated the participants' flag-off in Pekan Ijok and joined the run, which was divided into youth, adult, and veteran categories.

The programme was further enlivened with lucky draw prizes and a fireworks display at the stroke of midnight.
