HULU LANGAT, Dec 15 — The Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund’s (Tawas) School Entry Assistance programme highlights the state government’s commitment to easing parents' financial burden, especially in preparation for the upcoming school year.
Dusun Tua state assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz said the programme is particularly beneficial for recipients from low-income groups.
“Parents do not need to buy school bags once their application is approved, allowing them to use their money for other school necessities.

“I am confident this programme is highly beneficial, especially for the B40 group and those less fortunate,” he said.
Johan was speaking to the press during the handover ceremony of the Tawas 2025 School Entry Assistance programme for the Dusun Tua and Semenyih state constituencies, at Setia Eco Hill, Semenyih yesterday.
At the event, 593 students born in 2018 to families residing in the constituencies received Tawas school supply sets, which included school bags, stationery, water bottles, food containers, wallets, and lanyards.
Tawas is one of Selangor’s welfare initiatives, launched in 2008, open to Selangor-born children who meet the eligibility criteria and are registered before turning three years old. Members will receive RM1,500 upon reaching 18 years of age.
