KUALA LANGAT, Dec 14 — The state government will introduce artificial intelligence (AI) technology to all Village Development and Safety Committees (JPKKs) next year.

State executive councillor for rural development and unity Datuk Rizam Ismail said village administration must move with the times to ensure government policies are well delivered.

“We have many plans in the works, such as strengthening JPKK administration in each village and ensuring traditional villages have access to modern technology.

“The 2025 state budget emphasises AI technology, so we must follow current developments to allow villages to grow with the times,” he told Media Selangor.

Earlier, Rizam attended the Selangor Traditional Village Festival at Pantai Morib Square here, which was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

During the event, Amirudin launched the Village Service Squad (Skuad Bakti Desa), which will be introduced in all 373 traditional villages statewide.

The squad comprises rural youth and will enliven community activities, help manage disaster victims, and handle feasts and funeral matters.

Meanwhile, Rizam said the Traditional Village Festival will be held in every district to showcase the rural way of life, including each traditional village’s unique historical features.

Lasting four days, the event will centre various traditional arts, crafts, and food that make up Selangor’s unique village identity.

“This carnival was held to highlight that Selangor still has 373 traditional villages that we will empower comprehensively, in addition to ensuring the community have greater understanding of traditional villages,” he said.
