PETALING JAYA, Nov 29 — Approximately 4,776 micro-entrepreneurs have benefited from entrepreneurial development courses organised by the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) since 2022.

Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon said the courses focus on digital marketing, financial management, and one-to-one coaching.

“In addition, participants receive guidance on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, menu engineering, and compliance with licensing requirements.

“These courses have significantly enhanced knowledge in digitalisation, improved sales performance, product quality, and efficient financial management,” he said.

Zahri was speaking to the press during the 2024 Petaling Jaya Potential Entrepreneur Awards ceremony, which was officiated by state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi at the MBPJ Banquet Hall yesterday.

He added that the awards aim to recognise the achievements of local traders within MBPJ’s jurisdiction.

Four awards were presented: the Digital Icon Award, Best Business Planning Award, Best Financial Management Award, and the 2024 Petaling Jaya Potential Entrepreneur Award (10 winners).

“Each award recipient received a certificate and a RM300 cash prize, while winners of the Potential Entrepreneur Award were given tickets for an educational visit to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

“The visit will include several industrial locations and participation in the Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition Food and Beverages,” Zahri said.
