SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The Selangor State Legislative Assembly will extend its sitting hours starting Monday to give state lawmakers more time to debate two crucial financial bills, Speaker Lau Weng San said.

The extension of the Third Meeting of the Second Session will accommodate thorough discussions of both the Supply Bill 2025 and the Supplementary Supply Bill 2024, he said.

“We're extending the sitting from Monday to ensure assembly members have adequate time to participate in these important budget discussions,” he told reporters after the tabling of the 2025 Selangor Budget at the state assembly building, here, yesterday.

The speaker also revealed that the assembly received 854 questions for this sitting, comprising 432 oral and 422 written queries from government backbenchers, opposition members, and independent representatives.

However, he said that 10 submissions were rejected, including four oral questions, as they were presented as statements rather than queries.

"Assembly members need to refine their questioning techniques to ensure we make the most of our sitting time.”
