SHAH ALAM, Nov 15 — Selangor will invest RM15 million in various water infrastructure projects next year, including RM2 million to develop a comprehensive Water Management Master Plan, which is expected to be completed by 2026, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari announced today.

Speaking during the 2025 Selangor Budget tabling in the State Legislative Assembly today, he said the master plan will serve as a blueprint for sustainable water management, covering flood mitigation, raw and treated water supply, sewage systems, and renewable energy integration.

The initiative falls under the broader Selangor Raw Water Security Scheme (SJAM), with Amirudin reaffirming the state's commitment to complete or continue various water infrastructure projects throughout 2025.

"The state government also plans to commit RM12 million towards completing crucial infrastructure work on pumping systems at Sungai Selangor and Sungai Semenyih," he said.

Amirudin also announced that an additional RM1 million has been earmarked for securing land titles necessary to develop the Labohan Dagang Water Treatment Plant.

A total of RM3 billion is allocated for the 2025 Selangor Budget, an increase of RM470 million compared to this year’s budget.

Themed ‘A Dynamic Selangor: An Ideal Quest for a Civil Malaysia,’ the state budget has five main thrusts, namely Artificial Intelligence and Education as a Catalyst for State Economic Development, Uplifting an Aspiration of a Sustainable Environment and Quality Infrastructure, Promoting a Compassionate State, Championing an Efficient and Responsible System of Government, and Breathing New Life into the Creative Economy and Developing the Next Generation.
