Two suspects arrested after man gunned down in Bintulu hotel car park

SIBU, Nov 8 — Two suspects were arrested by police early this morning and are hunting for two other suspects who are still at large, in connection with an incident in which a man was shot dead in the car park of a prominent hotel in Bintulu late yesterday night.

Bintulu district police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said the two men, a local and a foreigner in their 40s, were arrested in the Miri area at 3am.

In the shooting incident, which occurred in the parking lot's fourth floor, the victim, a local man, was found in a pool of blood and confirmed dead by ambulance personnel who arrived at the scene.

"Immediately after the incident, the police conducted an investigation and managed to trace the suspects involved. Acting on information, the police managed to arrest two men and confiscate a vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects in the case.

"An application for remand will be made at the Bintulu Magistrate's Court and investigation will be carried out under section 302 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement to Bernama.

Nixon urged the public not to speculate on the incident which is still under investigation and those with information are urged to come forward or contact the Bintulu police district headquarters' operations room at 086-318304.
