SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — The initial phase of the Shah Alam Sports Complex (KSSA) project is now at 45 per cent, said its management.

"Soon, the foundation for our state-of-the-art facility will begin taking shape. This new venue will not only enhance the local football fan experience but also provide our community with a vibrant space for year-round events," it said on X (formerly Twitter) today.

KSSA's management also thanked members of the public living around the complex for their patience, as it worked to minimise any inconveniences to those in its immediate surroundings.

"We truly appreciate your patience as we continue to work closely with the local authorities and contractors to keep noise and dust at a controlled level.

"Thank you for your support as we build a better future together. Stay tuned for more updates!" it said.

On September 15, state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the demolition of the old Shah Alam Stadium, which began on July 1, is expected to go on until May 2025, with the new KSSA to be developed simultaneously, subject to the stage of demolition of the old structure.

First opened in July 1994, the Shah Alam Stadium with a 80,372 seating capacity was demolished to make way for the KSSA after the developer received approval from the Shah Alam City Council.

The demolition and reconstruction process of the Shah Alam Stadium, complete with commercial space and a parking plaza, is expected to conclude by 2026.

The second phase will begin in January 2027 and involves a covered theatre, youth and sports wing, and recreational areas. The final phase will involve the construction of an integrated terminal and hotel, which is expected to begin in January 2028 and end in December 2029.
