BANGKOK, Oct 31 — Thailand has expressed deep concern over the escalation of armed conflict in the Middle East, particularly in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and surrounding areas, which has resulted in a significant loss of life and property among innocent civilians on all sides.
The Thai Foreign Ministry reiterated its call for all conflicting parties to immediately cease retaliatory actions to prevent further deterioration of the situation and to restore peace and stability in the Middle East, a region that holds promise and potential for the future.
“Thailand also urges all parties to make maximum efforts to finalise a ceasefire agreement and ensure the immediate and unconditional release of all remaining hostages, including Thai nationals.
“As a member of the United Nations (UN) and a long-time contributor to UN peacekeeping missions, Thailand emphasises the importance of adhering to relevant UN Security Council resolutions,” it said in a statement today.
Additionally, the ministry called for the continued protection of UN personnel, peacekeepers and humanitarian aid workers.
“At this critical juncture, the global community faces complex challenges and crises that require solidarity and cohesive international responses,” it said.
Thailand encourages all parties to resolve the ongoing armed conflict through peaceful and constructive dialogue based on international law and the two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine coexisting in peace and security.
