Proton unveils e.mas 7, its first EV

SHAH ALAM, Oct 26 — Proton’s first electric vehicle (EV), the e.MAS 7, is open for booking and is expected to be priced from RM120,000.

Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Zhang Qiang said the promising growth of the local EV market, supported by the nation’s energy transition policy, signals an optimistic future for its models.

“We definitely aim to be a leader in this market, but the key is to provide excellent service to our Malaysian customers and establish a comprehensive EV ecosystem,” he said.

“We are committed to developing our own ecosystem, including our application and charging map. This makes the Proton e.mas 7 stand out from other models,” he said when met by Bernama after the unveiling of the EV at the Auto Car Expo 2024 held at the Setia City Convention Centre here today.

Zhang said from today until the grand launch, early birds can enjoy the Pioneer Privilege Deal that comes with a RM500 rebate and a gift pack worth RM1,000.

The event today also saw the launch of the e.MAS app, which lets users manage vehicle bookings, schedule services, and access Malaysia’s comprehensive EV charging network, which will be made available in phases.

Proton e.MAS 7 previously made its debut as part of the National Day parade alongside other models.
