KOTA BHARU, Oct 25 — Five people, three men and two women, died in a crash involving a Nissan lorry and a Perodua Myvi car at Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing this afternoon.

The five victims were identified as Mohd Junaizi Jusoh, 48, Shazwani Ismail, 39, Farhana Ismail, 35, Muhammad Fakrul Danish Mohd Junaizi, 20 and truck driver G. Mageswara, 53.

A Kelantan Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the fire brigade received an emergency call at 1.25pm and arrived at the scene 15 minutes later to find the five victims trapped inside the wrecked vehicles.

“Rescue work was carried out using special equipment to remove all the victims, but they were declared dead on the scene by Health Ministry officials.

“The bodies of the victims have been handed over to police for further action,” he said when contacted today.

Meanwhile, Gua Musang police chief Sik Choon Foo said the incident occurred at about 11am this morning when the driver of the lorry lost control when driving along a curve towards Gua Musang.

The lorry driver crashed and entered the opposite lane before colliding with a Perodua Myvi heading towards Cameron Highlands, which fell into a gorge.

“Members of the public who have information on this case are urged to come forward and assist in the investigation by contacting the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Gua Musang police headquarters at 09-912 1222 or investigating officer Aida at 012-402 7283,” he said in a statement tonight.
