Selangor top cop says new PJ police headquarters to enhance service quality

SHAH ALAM, Oct 22 — The Budget 2025 allocation for the construction of the Petaling Jaya police headquarters (IPD) is a timely and significant step, aligning with the city’s status as a growing metropolitan hub.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the new headquarters will bolster the police force’s operational capacity and enhance the quality of services provided to the community.

“I appreciate the attention given by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Budget 2025, as the construction plans for the Petaling Jaya IPD have been delayed for quite some time.

“With Petaling Jaya having achieved city status, the construction of a new police station is essential to ensure public safety,” he said to Media Selangor.

Hussein said Selangor police also received RM6.7 million through the Home Ministry’s Budget 2023 allocation for the repair and maintenance of police quarters.

“Many of the quarters are in poor condition, particularly in terms of space limitations, as they were built according to standards from 30 years ago.”

On Friday, during the Budget 2025 tabling, Anwar said four new police offices will be built at a cost of RM2.1 billion — the Pahang contingent police headquarters, Wangsa Maju IPD, Petaling Jaya IPD, and Tanjung Minyak police station in Melaka.
