Malaysia, Jordan discuss humanitarian aid for Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — Malaysia and Jordan have held discussions to strengthen cooperation in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestine and coordinate efforts on major international platforms, amid an escalating crisis.

The discussion took place during a phone call yesterday between Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.

In a post on X, Wisma Putra said the conversation focused on key issues surrounding the escalating Middle East crisis, particularly following Israel’s aggression towards its neighbouring countries.

“Both sides discussed cooperation in channelling humanitarian aid urgently to Palestinians by collaborating on various international platforms,” the ministry said.

Since October 7 last year, Israel has launched a brutal offensive in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 42,400 people and injuring over 99,000 others.

Meanwhile, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon since the beginning of the conflict on October 8, 2023, has reached 2,412, and the number of wounded has increased to 11,285 — according to a report yesterday by the Lebanese Council of Ministers.
