KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — The state government is offering participating companies under the Selangor Lab Partnership Programme financial support of up to RM5,000 per project this year.
This is aimed at offsetting research costs and other activities undertaken during the partnership programme with universities.
Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris said the programme offers participating companies access to research facilities, opportunities to engage with leading academic experts, and tailored support services that meet their specific business and research and development needs.
“The Selangor Lab Partnership Programme is designed to bridge the gap between industry and academia, fostering collaboration that can transform innovative ideas into practical solutions.
“By connecting industry players with institutions of higher learning and research institutes, we aim to create a robust ecosystem that promotes knowledge sharing and accelerates research and development,” he said.
Hasan said this during the launch of the Selangor Lab Partnership Programme and Growth Development of Selangor’s Life Sciences Industry at the Second Series of the Selangor International Business Summit 2024 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.
He also announced the programme’s strategic partners, which include nine higher learning institutions, namely Universiti Selangor, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Sunway University, Taylor’s University, Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, Monash University Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara, Xiamen University Malaysia, and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
“Their commitment to innovation aligns well with our collective ambition to drive the continued growth of Selangor’s life sciences industry,” he said.
The Selangor Lab Partnership Programme is designed to connect academic institutions — including universities, institutions of higher learning, and research institutes — with industry players within the life sciences sector.
