SERDANG, Oct 11 — Over 10,000 visitors are expected to beeline to the three-day 2024 Air Sports Championships, organised by the Malaysia Sports Aviation Federation (MSAF), at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang, starting today.
MSAF president Mohd Nurhaqimy Ismail said the inaugural championships would allow the public to have a better idea of the fast-growing sport.
“We estimate 10,000 visitors coming tomorrow and Sunday to see the aerial competitions held in conjunction with the 2024 Air Sports Championships. More than 1,500 people are participating in the championships,” he said.
He said over 40 exhibition stalls involving departments and agencies are also opened alongside the extensive exhibition of assets and machinery by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department and the Royal Malaysia Police Air Force.
Nurhaqimy said visitors will also have the opportunity to see interesting air sports such as paramotoring, paragliding, aeromodelling and drone racing.
He added that daredevils can enjoy the rare experience of disappearing into the clouds in a small two-seater plane and enjoy scenic views from hot air balloons.
