SHAH ALAM, Oct 4 — Forty volunteers from Team Selangor today cleaned up three flood-affected locations in the Sungai Tua state constituency.

The team’s community officer Wan Mohd Hazman Wan Ibrahim said 20 volunteers were sent to senior citizen care centre Cheshire Home, 10 to Kampung Sungai Kertas Open Hall, and 10 to Kampung Sungai Tua Baru Tabika Kemas.

“The activity started at 9am and ended at 3pm. Cleanup was focused on washing the premises that were dirty with mud from the flood.

“Team Selangor also helped collect and throw away damaged goods such as futons, mattresses, tables and chairs,” said Wan Hazman when contacted.

Earlier, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari asked all parties to be prepared for continuous flooding in Selangor during the transition phase ahead of the northeast monsoon.

Amirudin, who is also Gombak MP and Sungai Tua assemblyman, said he visited several flooded areas last night.

As of tonight, 1,178 evacuees are sheltering at six temporary relief centres in the state following floods in Petaling, Gombak and Kuala Selangor.
