KOTA BHARU, Oct 2 — Batik Air has announced the launch of a new direct route from Subang SkyPark to Kota Bharu, offering faster and more comfortable travel with the introduction of Boeing 737 aircraft.

Batik Air chief executive officer Datuk M. Chandran Rama said the new service will start October 21.

Chandran Rama expressed his excitement about the new route, which will connect passengers to Kota Bharu in Kelantan.

He said known for its vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, and rich heritage, Kota Bharu presents an attractive destination for both leisure and business travellers.

“Kota Bharu offers a unique blend of traditional crafts, mouth-watering local cuisine, and captivating natural attractions, making it the perfect destination for a variety of travellers.

“This route will also serve as an alternative to Kuala Lumpur International Airport providing passengers with the convenience of flying from Subang to Kota Bharu and offering easy access to the picturesque east coast of Peninsular Malaysia,” he said in a statement today.

Chandran emphasised that this new route strengthens Batik Air’s commitment to improving connectivity throughout Malaysia.

He noted that the new service from Subang SkyPark is a key addition to the airline’s offerings, following the successful relaunch of flights from Subang.

“We are proud to offer our customers the convenience of direct flights from Subang, addressing the strong demand for air travel we have observed in the region,” he said.

He reflected on Batik Air’s journey, recalling the airline’s early days as Malindo Air in 2013, when it operated just two ATR aircraft on routes to Penang and Kota Bharu.

“This new development highlights our growth and ambition, as we continue to strengthen our network and offer more travel options to passengers,” he added.

The new Kota Bharu route marks Batik Air’s second service from Subang, following the successful launch of flights to Penang. It also represents a significant upgrade in the airline’s network as it transitions from turboprop to jet services, improving the overall travel experience.

Chandran Rama added that Batik Air is looking to expand its services from Subang SkyPark, with plans to introduce additional routes to destinations such as Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
