High-tide phenomenon starts, with highest projected 2024 level of 5.8m

SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — The high-tide phenomenon in Selangor will see the sea level grow to 5.8m, the highest for this year.

The Selangor Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) announced via Facebook that it is expected to last 12 days from today.

“Tomorrow until October 5, the sea level is expected to reach 5.2m between 6am and 7am, and on October 6, it is forecasted to rise to 5.1m at 7.35am.

“The high-tide phenomenon will recur on October 16 with an anticipated sea level of 5.4m at 4.53am, followed by 5.7m at 5.38am on October 17, and 5.1m at 5.51pm,” showed an infographic released by JPS.

The graphic showed that the highest sea level would be 5.8m at 6.17am, with a 5.2m reading at 6.36pm, on October 18.

The next day, a 5.7m reading is expected at 6.54am and 5.2m at 7.15pm.

JPS also said that on October 20, the sea level is set to reach 5.5m at 7.29am and 5m at 7.52pm, followed by a 5.1m reading at 8.03am the next day.

“The high-tide phenomenon is expected to end on October 31, with a sea level reading of 5.1m at 5.08am,” it said.
