SHAH ALAM, Oct 2 — The decision from the special meeting of the Selangor State Fatwa Committee relating to GISB Holdings (GISBH) activities will be submitted to the Selangor sultan tomorrow.

State executive councillor for Islam Dr Fahmi Ngah said Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj is expected to grant his approval of the findings from the study before it is officially gazetted as a fatwa.

“The decision has already been finalised in the meeting and we will submit it to the Sultan of Selangor before it is gazetted,” he told Media Selangor.

Previously, Selangor Mufti Dato’ Anhar Opir said the Selangor Fatwa Committee had presented all findings on GISBH’s activities on September 30.

The committee also reviewed and assessed all evidence provided by the police and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department, as well as testimonies from those involved.

Sultan Sharafuddin had previously expressed his regret and disappointment upon learning that several GISBH premises in the state had been operating without registration for an extended period.

His Royal Highness ordered the immediate closure of these establishments, prohibiting them from continuing to operate in the state.

The state ruler decreed for all Selangor Islamic religious agencies, together with police, to cooperate, and conduct a thorough investigation to ensure all parties directly and indirectly involved in the criminal offences are prosecuted.

The authorities have rescued hundreds of children from GISBH’s care homes since the first raid on September 11, while hundreds of people have been arrested to assist in investigations.
