MPS steps up enforcement on GISBH-owned properties

SELAYANG, Sept 23 — The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) is increasing its efforts to monitor and enforce laws on Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holding (GISBH) properties.

Its deputy president, Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi, warned that violations of local authority regulations could result in the premises being seized.

“We previously conducted an integrated operation with the police, during which we closed down unlicensed businesses, seized assets, and issued notices and compounds for various offences.

“This acts as a warning to all traders within the MPS administrative area to comply with the established regulations, not just for cases like this,” he said after the closing ceremony and prize presentation of the 9th Kundang Jet Sport Geopark Championship 2024 at Tasik Biru Kundang, in Rawang, here yesterday.

Yesterday at 6.30am, Selangor police raided the business centre in Bandar Country Homes, Rawang, which is largely owned by the GISBH chain.

Various businesses operating under the GISBH name, including restaurants, workshops, second-hand clothing stores, printing shops, supermarkets, bakeries, media service centres, hotels, boutiques, and galleries, were the targets of the raid.

Previously, Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, expressed his deep sorrow over the criminal activities involving GISBH that have been taking place in the state.

His Royal Highness also ordered the immediate closure of all unregistered charitable homes and Islamic schools under GISBH and its network or those suspected of being involved in criminal activities.

The Selangor State Fatwa Committee was also instructed to review and examine whether the practices of GISBH are deviant or in contradiction with the true teachings of Islam.

Following this, Selangor Mufti Dato’ Dr Anhar Opir said that the Selangor Fatwa Committee’s special meeting will present its findings on GISBH activities on September 30.
