KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 21 — State religious authorities have been instructed by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari to act promptly regarding the issue surrounding Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISBH).
Amirudin said the authorities must also take seriously Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s decree for firm action to be taken against GISBH, which is suspected of committing multiple crimes.
“We have directed the state’s religious council and department to take action. The police have also initiated action in Rawang, among others.
“I have been informed from the beginning that it is indeed difficult to detect some of GISBH's activities, as many are conducted privately. That has been communicated, but we must wait for the religious department; they are aware and have met with His Royal Highness to present several matters."
"Therefore, the call from the Sultan should be acted upon promptly and effectively by the relevant departments. The State Fatwa Committee will also convene in the near future," he said when met after a programme here today.
Regarding the premises under GISBH that are unregistered or suspected of involvement in criminal activities, Amirudin said closure will be enforced if violations of the law are proven.
Earlier, the Sultan of Selangor decreed that religious authorities and the police must take immediate action against GISBH.
His Royal Highness also ordered the closure of all unregistered charity homes and religious schools under GISBH that are suspected of being involved in criminal activities.
Additionally, he urged the Selangor Fatwa Committee to review and determine whether GISBH's practices deviate from or contradict true Islamic teachings.
