SUBANG JAYA, Sept 11 — Most property owners who attended the feedback session on the Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) new assessment rate, which took effect last month, said they want the local authority to deliver excellent service.
Subang Jaya Deputy Mayor Mohd Zulkurnain Che Ali said MBSJ has received 10,800 objections out of the list of 326,646 notices sent on the new assessment rate, posted to property owners from June 21.
“From the 10,800 who submitted objections, only 47 per cent attended the feedback session, which was held from August 19 until September 4.
“They accepted the new rate; but just wanted MBSJ to continue improving its services especially from the aspect of infrastructure for senior citizens,” he said at the Primary School Low-Carbon Smart Generation programme at the USJ 7 Multipurpose Hall here today.
Elaborating, he said MBSJ will implement several initiatives from next year to strengthen services in the constituency.
“Among (these initiatives) is distributing waste bins for free to high-rise and terraced property owners with an allocation of RM14 million.
“We will distribute these waste bins from next year in phases. This is part of MBSJ’s effort to ensure residents continue caring for the environment and manage waste properly,” he said.
Previously, MBSJ said it had not increased the assessment rate since 1992, which is 32 years ago, for Subang Jaya and Bandar Sunway, while the assessment rate in USJ, Puchong, Seri Kembangan and Serdang was last increased in 1996, 28 years ago.
MBSJ said the new assessment rate takes effect January 1.
