TENOM, Sept 7 — The Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development Ministry (Kuskop) has launched the zero-interest Micro Financing for Hawkers and Petty Traders (MPPK 2.0) programme by Bank Rakyat.
Its minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said Bank Rakyat is allocating RM8 million for the financing programme.
"Financing of up to RM10,000 is offered to eligible hawkers and petty traders. I believe this will be able to help micro-entrepreneurs to manage their finances more effectively and focus on business development," he said in a statement today.
Earlier, Ewon attended the “Santai Namun Sampai” programme and the launch of the logo for the Tamu Desa Development Programme at Dewan Datuk OKK Sanggau Jalang.
Regarding the Tamu Desa Project in Sabah and Sarawak, Kuskop's latest programme, he said 36 Tamu Desa sites in Sabah including two in Tenom, and 13 Tamu Desa sites in Sarawak are under construction.
"The Tamu Desa project involves upgrading and building of markets, involving an allocation of RM9 million for Phase One in 2024. "
“The main goal of implementing the Tamu Desa project is to provide a more conducive infrastructure and more effective marketing access for traders," Ewon said.
Ewon said, that for Tenom, Kuskop is upgrading two Tamu Desa sites in Melalap and Pekan Tenom involving a RM400,000 allocation. The project is expected to be completed early next month.
