SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 — SA Sentral, the project to rejuvenate the city under the aegis of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), will transform Shah Alam into a business hub capable of competing with Kuala Lumpur.

PKNS chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas said that with a transit-oriented development concept for RM3 billion, the project will also provide an ideal ecosystem for business expansion and entrepreneurship.

Combining several key buildings, it will offer a wide range of infrastructures, including office spaces, retail outlets, restaurant branches, hotels, and rooms for meetings, conferences, and exhibitions, making it the new golden triangle location in Selangor.

“SA Sentral will reshape Shah Alam’s cityscape with innovative designs and sustainable practices, alongside smart city and low-carbon features aimed at attracting the interest of a new generation of residents, businesses, and visitors.

“It aligns with Selangor’s vision to become a smart and caring state under the Selangor First Plan initiative,” he said during the project’s launch yesterday, which was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.

SA Sentral, covering 64.7 hectares, includes the development of Plaza Alam Sentral, Plaza Perangsang, the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC), SACC Mall, SACC Walk, and Kompleks PKNS.

“It will be a dynamic hub, uniting communities and stimulating economic growth, while serving as the heart of Shah Alam, ushering in a new era,” Mahmud said.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said the state government will ensure that SA Sentral does not contribute to congestion in the city and that safety aspects are guaranteed.

He added that the transportation network will be prioritised, including the provision of Demand Responsive Transit van services and an extensive use of buses.

“When we look at the development model, there are many pedestrian pathways. This is in line with the low-carbon city concept and the Sustainable Development Goals.

“We will ensure that the construction is accompanied by proper mapping to facilitate maintenance work. What happened in Masjid India will serve as a lesson,” he said.

Amirudin was referring to the incident on August 23 when an Indian tourist, G. Vijaya Lakshmi, 48, was swallowed by a sinkhole on the road while walking to a nearby temple.

The search for the woman, which was launched on the same day, was called off nine days later after the government reviewed reports from agencies involved in the operation.
