SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 — Universiti Selangor (Unisel) has partnered with 13 hospitals to provide over RM7 million in scholarships, benefiting approximately 97 students pursuing diploma in nursing.
Its president and vice-chancellor Prof Dato' Mohammad Redzuan Othman said the initiative is part of Unisel's ongoing efforts to strengthen industry collaboration, enhancing the value of programmes and skills offered by the university.
He added that Unisel is committed to fulfilling the state government’s vision of transforming the university into a hub for technical and vocational education.
“We will continue to enhance this type of collaboration over time,” he said during the presentation of Certificate of Human Resource Practitioner (CHRP) at Unisel’s Pro Chancellor Hall, here, yesterday.
“With Unisel’s campus located in the heart of Shah Alam, the university is well-positioned for programmes not only related to TVET (technical and vocational education and training) but also for fostering industry partnerships.
"In the long term, we envision this campus becoming a hub for increased industry collaboration and skill development programmes that will have a significant impact not just on Selangor, but on the entire country," he said.
Previously, during tabling the 2024 Selangor Budget, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari announced that Unisel will be restructured into Selangor Industrial University, with a renewed focus on TVET.
According to him, the rebranding is aimed at further elevating high-value TVET programmes in the state by 2025.
