KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23 — Malaysian exporters recorded sales of RM12.88 million at the Integrated Electronics and Manufacturing Interconnections (IEMI) 2024 in Bengaluru, India, from July 29 to July 30.

At the networking event, the Institute of Printed Circuits (IPC) and Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) jointly coordinated one-on-one meetings and pitching sessions with foreign partners to explore new export opportunities.

Matrade said global players in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing industry showed keen interest to work with Malaysian companies to expand their supplier base.

“Bustling with productive meetings, the Malaysia Pavilion showcased diverse competencies of six Malaysian exporters including cleaning process solutions, metal finishing and advanced packaging applications, metalworking and plastic injection moulding, electronics manufacturing, as well as parts and components for machineries.

“Of the total of RM12.88 million export sales recorded, RM5.71 million sales were realised for sourcing of metal recycling and e-waste management services,” it said in a statement today

The meeting and pitching sessions in Bengaluru were a continuation of IEMI 2024, which was also held at the Setia Spice Convention Centre in Penang from July 24 to July 25.

In partnership with IPC, over 200 business matchings were arranged between Malaysian exporters and 29 foreign buyers from Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Spain, South Africa, Egypt, and India in conjunction with IEMI 2024.

Matrade described its partnership with IPC this year as timely to enable Malaysia to initially tap into India’s semiconductor market that is expected to grow to US$79 billion (RM345.2 billion) in 2031.

Its chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said that as the prime partner for the event, the agency is working closely with international industry stakeholders including IPC to unlock new export opportunities for the Malaysian companies specifically in key growth areas, namely integrated circuit design, advanced chip packaging, and equipment manufacturing.

“Through this initiative, Malaysian exporters are being exposed to the latest technologies and best business practices. This also strengthens the objectives of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and National Semiconductor Strategy,” he said.

Meanwhile, IPC-India executive director Gaurab Majumdar said the collaboration was instrumental in showcasing Malaysia’s vibrant export opportunities involving the small and medium enterprises, especially through the Malaysia Pavilion at the IEMI India event.

“The pavilion not only highlighted the country’s dynamic electronics industry but also fostered stronger trade relations between Malaysia and India.

“We look forward to continuing this fruitful partnership and further strengthening the economic ties between nations,” he said.

IPC is a global non-profit industry association headquartered in Illinois, the United States, with offices in Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, Japan, Thailand, India, Germany, and Belgium.
