Man dies after falling into palm kernel machine at Kuala Langat factory

SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — A 34-year-old man was killed after falling into a palm kernel processing machine at a factory in Jenjarom, Kuala Langat, yesterday.

Kuala Langat police chief Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor said his station was alerted to the incident at 9.15pm.

“According to the factory manager, the victim, who had been working there for just eight days, took a break at 1pm and resumed work 50 minutes later.

“The manager said when the victim’s colleagues returned from their break at 2.30pm, they found him missing and the machine operating unattended,” he said in a statement today.

Ridhwan said a search by the victim’s colleagues led to the discovery of a shoe, pieces of clothing, and human bone fragments believed to belong to the factory operator at the end of the conveyor belt, at 5.57pm.

“There are no criminal elements involved in the incident and police have classified the case as sudden death,” he said, adding that the remains had been taken to Banting Hospital’s forensic unit.
