SHAH ALAM, Aug 8 — The public has been advised to be cautious of the high tide phenomenon forecasted to occur at the Port Klang station until Sunday (August 11).
The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) said that sea level readings are expected to reach 4.8 metres today, tomorrow, and Saturday (August 10) around 8am.
Based on an infographic in a Facebook post yesterday, the water level at the station is forecasted to reach 4.6 metres around 8pm tonight.
Meanwhile, data from the Selangor Drainage and Irrigation Department's flood information portal indicate the water level at the Bandar Klang and Selat Muara stations is approaching danger levels at three metres.
As of 9pm yesterday, the Bandar Klang station recorded a reading of 2.8 metres and Selat Muara at 2.75 metres. Both stations are at the warning level.
Previously, the National Hydrographic Centre said the high tide phenomenon could cause water overflow in land areas and potential flooding.
Residents near coastal areas are advised to be more aware and cautious in the face of this phenomenon, to constantly monitor the current weather conditions, and to refer to the relevant agencies for coastal safety information.
