KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 — The National Sports Council (MSN) today said the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) paid to send its delegation to Paris 2024.
In a statement today, the MSN also said the cost of sending OCM members’ guests to Paris 2024 is borne by the OCM and its members, not the government.
“OCM is only responsible for financing costs involving athletes, coaches, OCM officers, the National Sports Institute, and the operations of the Malaysia House for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
“Funding for the OCM delegation is under the responsibility of OCM, and for members’ guests, they are paid for by parties concerned, and do not involve government funds,” said the statement.
Malaysia has collected two bronze medals at the Olympics this year, by men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and men’s singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia.
The quest for the country’s first Olympic gold is now focused on national track cycling champion Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang, who is aiming for a better finish than the keirin silver he won in Tokyo 2020.
