Pay rise: Raise productivity, maintain standards, Selangor civil servants told

SHAH ALAM, Aug 7 — Selangor public servants have been urged to keep demonstrating high commitment and raise productivity ahead of a pay rise for the civil service by the state administration.

Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Datuk Adnan Mat said this while expressing appreciation to the Selangor government for its readiness to implement the salary hike set by the federal government.

“Civil servants in Selangor are urged to continue focusing on providing the best service because this state is far more advanced, and naturally, its clients and stakeholders come from various levels.”

“As civil servants, we must be informed on certain matters before the public. Do not become complacent but instead, stay ahead of the public, in line with the menteri besar’s slogan of ‘Selangor Maju Bersama’,” he said when contacted.

His comments came in light of an announcement by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on Monday that the state will raise civil servants’ salaries to mirror the federal public service pay rise rate.

“The menteri besar said the rate will be in accordance with what Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will announce at the 19th Civil Service Premier Assembly (Mappa) on August 16,” said Adnan.

“This means Selangor is ready to adopt any form of approval made at the federal level. Cuepacs extends its gratitude to the leadership of the Selangor government for being prepared for any possible announcements,” he said.

On Monday, Public Service deputy director-general (operations) Datuk Mohd Shaiful Ibrahim said civil servants can check their new salaries from next week, following wage adjustments through the Public Service Remuneration System.

He said details on related mechanisms will be announced by the prime minister at the Mappa.
